My Story

Marlon Zuniga’s Artworks is about movement, energy and the human figure. He portrays these elements through a variety of 2-D mixed media, paintings and drawings. Much of his inspiration comes from the dance figure, their grace, their athleticism and their movement on the dance floor. Zuniga has a special place in his heart for the dance since, in his early years, he danced professionally. Now that the dance shoes have been put away, Zuniga continues to experience the dance through his artwork.

Marlon Zuniga uses a variety of media to realize his compositions. He utilizes oil pastels, watercolors, acrylics, oil paint, ink and mixed media. Sometimes, the acrylic paint is used as a ground before the image is applied with oil pastels or with oil paint. Sometimes, watercolor is used to fill in the spaces from the demarcation of the oil pastels. Oil paint is sometimes used to create monotypes. He uses the variety of media to create layers and textures to express the movement and dynamism of its energy. HIs Paintings Artworks and Drawings are part of the Artist life.

My Inspiration

As a young boy, Zuniga inner Artist was inspired and fascinated by the human figure. He first copied illustrations of people from textbooks and Artworks. Then he moved on to comic book superheroes, such as Spiderman, whose action positions were much like that of a dancer. Finally, the dancers dominated his inspirations for his Paintin

Zuniga loves his figures and envelops them with lines, colors and textures to bring out the emotion, the energy and the action of the figure as it passes through and displaces the atmosphere and space in the dance environment.
